Does Ninebot Max Come Charged?

Yes, but not fully charged. One of the best breath-taking experiences you can ever get in riding a scooter is when you ride the Ninebot Max. With a top speed of 17.8 miles per hour, a 28.1 miles range is an added advantage.

But this cannot be fully enjoyed without a proper understanding of the battery status and its ability, especially during the first days after you receive your Ninebot Max.

Many electric devices can be damaged by poor handling during the first few days. The charge status is very important for any new electric device.

So you might be asking, does Ninebot Max come charged? Yes, somehow! While it doesn’t come on a flat battery, you do not want to ride your scooter flat before your first charge.

Many scooter batteries have been damaged this way, probably due to excitement, but I would blame ignorance more than excitement.

Understandably, you are very excited to own your new Ninebot Max. However, you want to be careful before you use your hoverboard.

Remember, it doesn’t come on a full charge, so you want to charge your scooter and bring it to a full charge first.

Resist the temptation to ride your scooter before charging it, as that would be detrimental to your batteries.

Considering how long you have stayed without this scooter, a six-hour charging time should not be too much to ask for the sake of longevity.

And believe me, if you treat this electric scooter well the first few days, you will enjoy how far it can go.

Indeed, there is no other single electric scooter that can travel the distance your Ninebot Max will travel on a single charge.

When Should I Charge My Ninebot Max?

Charging your Ninebot Max should not be sporadic. You need to adhere to some ground rules if you see longer days with your battery.

For instance, it’s not advisable to charge your Ninebot Max immediately after a ride. As you might be aware, the battery heats up when riding your scooter.

The heated state of the battery is what you want to avoid as you charge your Ninebot Max. During charging, a battery usually gets hot.

If you couple this with a battery that is already hot as you charge, it makes a perfect recipe for the battery cells to get damaged.

Consequently, it might be best to wait for about 15-20 minutes after a ride before you can charge your Ninebot Max.

This time is enough to get your scooter to room temperature so that the battery will stabilize at room temperature.

Again, you want to refrain from riding your Ninebot Max immediately after charging it. As I have mentioned, your battery will get hot during charging.

And as I pointed out also, the battery gets hot when riding your scooter.

Therefore, if you ride your scooter directly after charging, the already hot battery will be susceptible to even more heating during the ride.

This will be a precursor to a shortened lifespan for your battery. If the battery heats up more than the cells can bear, they will be damaged.

Essentially, the battery is designed to perform the best at about 68 Fahrenheit or 20 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is colder or hotter, the performance might drop significantly.

Should I Charge My Electric Scooter To 100%?

Yes, you need to charge your electric scooter until it’s 100% full. Although there are theories that suggest that an 80% charge would be appropriate.

If you get used to charging your electric scooter battery to 80%, after some time, the battery capacity will be changed to 80% because of the reduced percentage.

The parts of the cells that don’t get the charge will be damaged. When you charge your battery to 100% charge, your BMS (battery management system) will do the rest.

Therefore, it’s always appropriate to go for a full charge.

Indeed, this is the recommendation from many electric scooter manufacturers; that you fully charge your electric scooter’s battery to 100%.

Fortunately, most electric scooter chargers feature an LED that turns green when the battery is fully charged.

However, others will feature an indicator on the scooter’s display or even small LEDs that indicate the battery level. By default, this blinks when it’s charging.

When charging your electric scooter, lift the rubber flap in to access the charging port and plug the power adapter into the charging port.

You will notice that the LED light turns green when your battery is fully charged.

At this point, it’s advisable to unplug the charger and then cover the charging port using the rubber flap.

It’s also important to note that Lithium batteries scarcely perform well if they are not charged enough.

It’s useful always to ensure that the charge does not drop too low because it’s not hard to go below 15% at such levels.

And at 15%, you will likely diminish the battery’s life. On the other hand, if you are not planning to use your scooter, it’s still advisable to charge it to 100% every 2 to 3 months.

How Do I Know If My Moped Is Charging?

It’s easy to know if your moped battery is charging because you usually have to remove the battery to charge it.

When your battery is charging, the charger has a LED indicator illuminated until it is fully charged.

When the battery is brought to a full charge, the red LED will change to a steady green.

This LED is a smiley face, so the smiley face will be red when charging and green when fully charged.

While an electric moped doesn’t require much maintenance, it’s important to keep the battery charged.

Although charging the battery of your moped will increase your monthly electric bill somewhat, these are minimal costs.

Especially if you consider the amount of money you are saving against fueling a car. Indeed, it’s even cheaper than taking a bus or subway every day.

Some scooters will have a charging pad used to charge the battery on the scooter. This is still the case for mopeds.

But as I mentioned, in most cases, you will need to remove the battery from the moped or scooter to be charged.

But either way, there is only one way you can know if the battery is charging or not.

Perhaps, you might benefit from knowing that this is the most critical part of the entire charging setup because if you do not charge your battery well.

You will get a greatly diminished lifespan from it. Just pay attention to the color of the smiley face. You first connect the battery to the charger and then plug in the charger to the mains.

If your battery has some charge (and it should), the smiley face will be green.

But once you plug it into the mains, this will turn to red and remain that way until it turns back to green after a full charge.

Immediately disconnect the charger from the mains and the battery after the charge is complete.

Do Electric Scooters Charge On Or Off?

When you are charging your electric scooter, go-kart, or bike, it’s recommended that you turn the key or power switch to the off position.

However, this does not mean that your battery will not charge when the scooter is on; No, it will charge.

There are compelling reasons you need to put your electric scooter to the “off” position when charging the battery.

First, this is related to safety as someone can accidentally press or twist the throttle and cause significant damages when the scooter is plugged in.

If the scooter is off, this risk does not exist. Again, charging in the off position means that the power switch will not be unintentionally left on after the charger is unplugged from the vehicle.

Again, if you charge your electric scooter in the “on” position and then leave it that way after completing the charge, even after unplugging the charger.

Your scooter’s charge might be depleted without riding it for a single ride. If your battery pack depletes to flat levels, it might need to be replaced. And this will be expensive.

Consequently, it’s best to ensure you always charge your scooter with the key switch or power in the off position

Do You Charge A Razor Scooter With The Switch On Or Off?

It’s recommended to charge your Razor electric scooter with the switch in the “off” position. At no point should you try charging your Razor electric scooter in the “on” position.

Once you turn off your Razor electric scooter, plug its charger into the electrical mains outlet and then note that the light on the charger turns on.

The default color of the light is solid green. Once you plug the charger into the Razor electric scooter’s charging port.

You want to ensure that the charger is plugged into the charger port correctly.

When you look at the light this time around, you will notice solid red, showing perfect charging status.

This red color will only change back to solid green when your Razor electric scooter is fully charged.

At this point, you are going to remove the charger from the wall and charger port. Your scooter is ready for your use!

Since your Razor electric scooter’s battery should only be brought to a full charge after about 12 hours, if by chance you notice the solid green light after a few minutes.

It will mean that the indicator is most likely faulty. Consequently, ignore it and continue the charge for about 12 hours.

After this, you may disconnect your charger and enjoy your ride after some time of cooling off.

Can I Charge Ninebot Max Overnight?

Yes, but with some caution. It’s safe to charge your Ninebot Max overnight since it has a Battery Management System (BMS).

Before I proceed to charge your Ninebot Max overnight, let me first touch on the battery management system.

A battery management system is the brain of a battery pack. This is a set of electronics tasked with monitoring and managing all of the battery’s performance.

Additionally, it will ensure that a battery continues to operate within the confines of its safety margins.

Indeed, the battery management system is a key component in a battery’s overall performance, safe operation, and longevity.

It’s also handy in protecting the device it’s installed on.

Now, going back to charging your Ninebot Max(Amazon Link) overnight, you can rely on the BMS to manage your charging as far as your Ninebot Max is concerned.

However, it’s unfortunate that your scooter can still overcharge, even with a BMS installed on it.

The result of this failure would see your scooter overcharge, shortening your battery’s lifespan. Where does this take us?

It’s better to be safe; unplug your charger once your Ninebot Max is fully charged. This will mean that it’s not necessarily safe to charge your scooter overnight.

I prefer connecting my Ninebot when I am in the house, even if it’s at night. But I also set an alarm that would kick off after ten hours.

When it charges for ten hours, it’s normally at 90%, so I either have to monitor it for the rest of the charge time or disconnect it until I have enough time to monitor it as it charges.

How Long Does the Ninebot Max Battery Last?

Your Ninebot Max battery will last over 1,000 charge cycles. This can be over three to five years.

Just so that you know, one charge cycle is when your battery is charged, and the time it takes till the next charge.

The next charge will mark the beginning of the second charge cycle. As the Ninebot Max uses a nickel-cobalt manganese lithium-ion polymer battery.

You can expect the battery to be highly efficient, safe, and durable.

To answer exactly how long a Ninebot Max battery will last, it will depend on the usage. This is because regular usage will dictate more frequent charging.

The more frequent you charge your Ninebot, the faster the charge cycles will be depleted.
