Pushback is typically very subtle. You can do this to prevent you from constantly feeling and hearing it in slow-riding situations.
To enable pushback, you need to enable it in the settings menu. You can re-enable pushback anytime you like. If you can custom-set the amount of pushback, I would leave it at a very low setting.
As One-wheelers tend to wobble at times, when you notice that you are no longer staying balanced on the board, simply pressing and holding the TRIP button will cause the board to respond by applying an equalizing force that will help you stay balanced.

The GT’s double-step design, one foot-mount spot, and 4-inch wide deck allow you to ride the board “cradled” between your legs, allowing you to go any way with a push of a single stroke.
Because of this unique dynamic, other boards don’t compare. You can ride through a crowd effortlessly and not worry about trampling anyone with the speed of this board.
It’s a good choice for street riders and commuters alike who don’t need the speed of a skateboard but want to get more out of their riding.
The GT’s stiffness and high decks are stiff enough to accommodate this double-step riding style. A rule of thumb is that if you can’t ride, it is single-footed as you would on any other board; it’s too stiff.
Although the GT’s speed is a huge plus, it’s not what you should get most excited about. The real benefit of this board is its effortless use.
In summary, the GT is a cracker of a board with plenty of speed to give you bragging rights, while the unique double-step design makes it comfortable and effortless to ride through crowds and handle city traffic.
What Is Onewheel Full-Battery Push Back
Onewheel full-battery pushback is a technique where you fall backward and then turn the front wheel and push it as you fall over.
This stops your weight from pushing the board nose-first into the ground, resulting in a much smoother landing.
This is a move that you can only do on Onewheel and requires some practice to land successfully, but in return will save your board from getting scuffed or scratched up.
It also prevents an ugly wipeout if you land on the ground at an angle while trying to push off backward.
- Find a relatively large open space, or better yet, a grassy area or a beach. You have to find somewhere to practice this where you’ll have plenty of room to fall backward.
- Get your balance perfect on your Onewheel by riding around on it normally for about 5-10 minutes. You must get used to the board’s shape to land it smoothly when you fall over.
- Starting from standing, begin to fall over backward, going at an angle towards the ground. Make sure you plant your feet solid on the ground and that your weight is entirely on your toes.
- As you’re falling backward, start to turn your front wheel and push.
- At this point, you should be falling about 5 feet back from where you started.
- Your board should be pointing straight at the ground, but your weight is no longer on it, and you are now ready to land.
- Land on your feet, but take it slow and ensure an excellent re-balance, so you don’t lose your balance. If you feel like you’ll fall over on the landing, plant your foot back down on the ground.
- When falling forward, land with the nose of your board facing forward. This is to prevent any damage to your board from falling nose-first into the ground.
- Re-balance and then ride off normally.
This reverses the wheel in less than 5 minutes and will help ride off a one-way course when a OneWheel has run out of power.
There is no need to push a Longboard, you let go of it, and it will automatically roll back towards you with its reverse electric motor.

Does A Onewheel Have a Reverse?
Yes, most models of Onewheel electric skateboards have a “digital shaping” setting called “Ride-Backwards,” which allows you to go in reverse.
You can achieve this by turning the digital shaping “ON” and holding the control button on one of the digital shaping modes.
Onewheel has a Reverse-mode that allows riders to go in reverse. You can activate it by pressing a mode button which turns the Digital Shaping on, followed by keeping the Mode Button pressed for 3 seconds.
After Ride-Backwards mode is active, pressing it again will deactivate it and bring you back to the original riding mode. In Ride-Backwards mode, the push-button controller is used to go forward and backward.
You should use reverse mode only in emergencies or when you need to turn back quickly if you activate the reverse mode while on a slope or in other dangerous situations, it is not advised to have it activated.
Onewheels have reverse by default, and the rider can use a button press to set the riding direction easily. However, some users wish to reverse during everyday riding.
You can achieve this by using the Digital Shaping features to achieve Reverse-mode, but it will require the rider to hold down a button for 2 seconds.

How do you stop a Onewheel GT?
- Take off the footpad and move it out of the way so that you can see the rear wheel.
- Find the brake cable sticking out of the brake arm and grab it with both hands.
- Firmly pull on the brake cable in a direction that moves it closer to the center of gravity. It may take some force, but this is normal because you’re pulling off a lot of energy stored in rotational motion.
- After you’ve pulled on the brake cable sufficiently, it should stop spinning and be relieved of its rotational motion. The hardest part is over.
- Make sure your battery is charged so you don’t have to do this again.
- If your Onewheel still doesn’t move, check the two small rubber bumpers at the tip of each motor arm.
- These can sometimes come off and get stuck underneath the motor arm, preventing movement. You can pull them out and put them back in.
Why Am I Getting Pushback on My Onewheel?
There are various reasons why you are getting pushback on your onewheel.
1. Riding at An Unsafe Speed
You may notice that you are starting to lose balance on your ride. You may also have been riding in a place where you’re not supposed to be riding.
2. Riding on the wrong side of the road
If you’re riding on the wrong side of the road, it’s because a car or bike is coming around a corner too close for comfort, and you’ve had to jump out of the way. As soon as possible, get back into traffic safely.
3. Riding Too Close to A Curb
Try to keep a 3-foot distance from the curb. If you get too close to the curb, you may hit a curb and fall over.
4. Riding in A Crowded Area
If you’re riding in an area with many pedestrians or vehicles, it’s best to avoid riding. Wait until you have more space.
5. Riding on Wet Street Surfaces
Try not to ride your Onewheel when it rains or after it has rained unless the streets have dried out completely.
Observing traffic signs and city ordinances when riding in or passing through public spaces is essential.
Understanding The Footpad
Onewheel GT footpad is a part of the Onewheel electric skateboard that provides you with a feet surface when riding.
Since Onewheel has no handlebars, you can use the footpad to control the speed of the electric skateboard.
When you apply pressure, it accelerates, and when you release pressure, it slows down. This is one of the essential pieces of tech on the board and requires some practice to master.

The Boost is your best bet if you want a board with more kick, but you will need to practice more to manage it safely.
The footpad height can also affect how well you ride. If you need extra support while riding, you can raise the footpad.
And, of course, if your feet hurt from riding on rough boards, you can use the pads to sand down the sides of your toes.
Once you have mastered this part’s basic functionality, I recommend looking at other parts that may help improve your overall ride experience and better use your time when riding.
An excellent place to start would be in your garage. The more you ride, the better you control it and navigate obstacles, and the more confident you are when riding outdoors.
