Interestingly, Segway declares the scooter as water-proof and yet gives its IP rating correctly.

Do you know why they do this? It’s because they know most people don’t understand what these numbers mean.

It’s ironic to give the IP rating of an electric device as IP54 and then, in the same breath, declare it waterproof.

This is ridiculous! They know people do not even bother to know the difference between waterproof and water-resistant.

At best, Ninebot Max G30(Amazon Link) can be declared as having come from water resistance, though not in a reliable manner.  

Can You Ride A Segway In The Snow?

It depends on how it can handle water and snow. The first thing you need to note is that you have to consider the level of water-resistance of a Segway before riding it in the snow.

If it’s not water-resistant, you risk losing your hoverboard to electrical short-circuits. Water has never been friendly to any electrical circuits.

When it’s short-circuited, there will be damages to the electrical circuit. And this might be the beginning of your troubles.

I would advise you not to ride your Segway on any slippery surface, like ice (including black ice), wet grass, snow, oily and greasy areas, or wet floors.

But you might have a way to make your Segway water-resistant or even water-proof. Several DIY projects will make your Segway waterproof.
